About the tour

We will collect you from your Cradle Mountain accommodation or the Cradle Mountain National Park visitor information centre in our clean and tidy mini bus. Time will be confirmed at booking but generally please be ready around 15min prior to departure time.

We drive into the Cradle Mountain National Park and start our walk at the Dove Lake carpark as we head straight up to Hanson’s Peak, 1.5 hours. This steep track climbs quickly above Dove Lake and will certainly get the heart and legs pumping, after peaking out at 1164m we will take in the vistas to get some great photos.

From Hanons Peak we descend onto the Twisted lakes area where we can circumnavigate the lakes for some amazing mirrored images on the lakes and great views to Cradle Mountain and the surrounds. We may stop here for lunch and a good break.

We then start to head west along the Face track where we walk under the imposing peaks of Cradle Mountain. Looking back up to Cradle from underneath is really a sight to behold.

We eventually join the Overland track near Kitchen hut, a hut now used for emergency accommodation. We continue after a short break and look at the hut along to Marion’s Lookout.

From Marion’s we keep left and head down quite a steep section of track before plateauing out a little to Crater Lake. This crater that has been formed by ice movement rather than by land movement is around 60m in depth.

Keeping to the track we come to an open button grass plain before descending to Ronny Ck car park where we will be met by our transport back to Cradle Mountain visitor centre or to your Cradle Mountain accommodation.
