McDermotts Coaches is a proudly Tasmanian owned and operated company held privately by Peter and Joanne McDermott.

The company was launched in 1985 and has grown from operating a single school bus service to become one of the State’s largest tour coach and specialist bus service providers.

The business was founded on, and continues to prosper under the premise that while ‘price is important, service is paramount’.

The company now operates the most up-to-date fleet in the State, owning 20 coaches including luxury seat belted coaches.

The company employs up to 36 people (varying with seasonal demand) and its position as a major operator in the State has seen its appointment as the official Tasmanian carrier for a number of organisations including:

McDermotts Coaches is vitally involved in the Tasmanian tourism industry, operating its own Travel Club (currently with more than 1500 members) which provides often over-subscribed tours of the state. The company also conducts interstate and international tours in conjunction with Travel Agents, the most recent of which – to Norfolk Island, Borneo and New Zealand – were rapidly sold out. Charters to the discerning conference and incentives market play an increasingly important role in the company’s growth.

Charter Services

With McDermott’s Coaches we offer an expert Charters service to suite groups of any size.  Our drivers offer a very personalised service to all our clients making sure their journey with us is an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.  All our additional tours below can be adapted with your charter hire for group bookings.

Conferences

At McDermotts Coaches we cater for all your conference transport needs. Whether it be airport transfers, touring to various attractions or transfers to restaurants we are able to provide a high standard of service and transport to conference delegates.

Cradle Mountain Park Tours

McDermott’s Coaches are Cradle Mountain specialists. We transfer your group from their large coach to our smaller, fully equipped Park Explorer vehicles and provide personalised tours of Cradle Mountain with expert guides providing full commentary.

Night with Animals in a 4WD Coach

We are now offering Night spotting tours where they will see and learn about the life cycles of the Wallaby, Wombat, Devil, Possum, Snake etc.   We collect at dusk from any of the Accommodations at Cradle Mountain and our tour runs for approx.  90 mins.

This is a magnificient experience with expert guides.

We also offer an Optional Extra where we include The Devil Park an option highly recommend and an opportunity to learn some very informative information about our Tasmanian Devils.
